What is happening?

If your flight departs from an airport within the European Union or is operated by an EU airline, you are protected by the European Regulation EU261. Although Emirates is not an EU airline, flights departing from EU airports fall under this regulation.
What does EU261 provide in case of flight suspension or cancellation?
- Refund or re-routing: you have the right to a full ticket refund or to be rebooked on another flight to your final destination.
- Assistance: if the wait exceeds 2 hours, the airline must provide meals and refreshments, free communications, and if necessary, accommodation.
- Compensation: if the cancellation or suspension is attributable to the airline and communicated less than 14 days in advance, you may be entitled to financial compensation (from 250 to 600 euros depending on the flight distance).
Remember that in case of “exceptional circumstances,” which include unforeseeable serious technical problems, compensation may be excluded.
