How is EU261 compensation calculated?
By flight distance: €250 up to 1,500 km, €400 between 1,500 and 3,500 km, €600 over 3,500 km. It is a fixed amount per passenger, regardless of ticket price.
When is compensation NOT due?
When a cancellation is notified at least 14 days in advance, or when the disruption is caused by extraordinary circumstances (extreme weather, air traffic control strike, airspace closure).
Does a 2-hour delay qualify?
No: monetary compensation starts at a 3-hour arrival delay. Below 3 hours you are still entitled to care (meals, communications).
